The European Union (EU) Regulatory Guide is one of Leatherhead Food Research's four online food legislation guides.
It is split into three main sections:
Legislative Framework - providing a clear description of the EU organisations and their functions, summaries of the EU legislative process, principles of free movement of foodstuffs and general principles of food law and the European Food Safety Authority.
General Provisions - detailed information on all EU provisions relating to general aspects of the production and marketing of foodstuffs, e.g. food additives, contaminants, labelling, general food hygiene, irradiation and food contact materials (so-called "horizontal" legislation).
Specific Foods - information on Regulations, Directives and other instruments of EU legislation that apply to specific food categories (so-called "vertical" legislation).
