Urban farmers 'unable to cope with animals'. Feb 8 2010 The Daily Mail (6.2.2010, p.45) reports that many people are taking on farm animals in an attempt to be more self-sufficient without having the proper expertise to look after them. According to the RSPCA, some have bought day-old chicks for eggs that will never lay because they are in fact cockerels. The charity added that many of these urban farmers cannot bear to kill and eat their animals.
